The UNLV Lady Rebels defeated the New Mexico Lobos by the slimmest of margins, 68-66, on Wednesday Jan. 17 despite an unwise foul from junior forward Paris Strawther that cut the UNLV lead from four to two points with just five seconds left in the game.
Despite Strawther’s mental error, that also resulted in her fouling out of the game, the Lady Rebels played solid defense on the last possession to force a miss from Las Vegas native Cherise Benyon of New Mexico and seal the victory.
With a little under 10 minutes left in the third quarter, the game appeared all but lost as UNLV was down 42-32 and struggling offensively.
