There’s only 30 head coaching positions in the NBA and Dave Joerger has one of them. And he has never been more appreciative.
The 42-year-old Joerger spent three years as the man in charge in Memphis before he and Grizzlies management had an acrimonious breakup in early May. But two days later, he was back in the league as Sacramento gave him a four-year, $16 million deal hoping he can do what Eric Musselman, Reggie Theus, Kenny Natt, Paul Westphal, Keith Smart, Mike Malone, Ty Corbin and George Karl couldn’t, which was produce a playoff-caliber team.
The Kings haven’t been to the playoffs since 2006.
