After the dismissal of UNLV men’s basketball head coach Marvin Menzies, five current players have entered the NCAA transfer portal as step one of transferring out of the university.
The flurry of moves comes less than a week after the decision was made by Athletic Director Desiree Reed-Francois, citing a lack of “confidence” in Menzies’ ability to get the team where it wanted and needed to be.
Biochemistry major Kevin Silky said, “That just means that they were attached to the coach, they liked the way that he was running the program. Maybe they were entirely sure on where the program was going to once he was fired because they don’t know who’s coming in.
