UNLV senior floor general Brooke Johnson cemented her spot in Lady Rebels lore by closing out a fruitful four-year career and being named to the All-Mountain West team, All-Mountain West Defensive team and most notably being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.
She becomes the first Lady Rebel to be named the conference’s best defender in 10 years.
The announcement was made March 5, just three days after UNLV clinched a share of the Mountain West regular season conference title on its Senior Night.
Johnson’s ability stifle opposing offenses all season and shut down each team’s best perimeter threat opened up the Lady Rebels defensive mobility and allowed them to excel as a team.
