Desert Pines High School quarterback Marckell Grayson is the first player to commit to UNLV’s 2017 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound dual-threat signal caller announced his decision on his Twitter account Saturday, posting “Blessed to announce that I’ve decided to stay in Las Vegas and commit to my hometown team - UNLV.”
Grayson completed 113 of 208 passes (54.33 percent) for 1,798 yards and 21 touchdowns, with 12 interceptions, last season. He also ran for 309 yards and eight TDs en route to earning honorable mention all-state honors from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
As a sophomore, Grayson passed for 2,180 yards and 27 TDs, with nine INTs, and rushed for 209 yards and three TDs for the Jaguars.
