Defensive prowess leads to a 1-0 record for UNLV men’s soccer

UNLV men’s soccer kicked off the year with an impressive bang taking down Florida Atlantic 3-0 in Orem, Utah. Defense was key for the Rebels, particularly in the first half. Even with Florida Atlantic University taking four of the first five shots, the Rebels held their composure defensively heading into halftime tied at zero. The Rebels took matters into their own hands, going on a five-minute scoring barrage starting from the 50th minute. Junior midfielder Timo Mehlich made the first point off of a penalty kick, while Bay Kurtz made the second after the Owls left the net open.
