Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin turns down UNLV basketball job

Mick Cronin made UNLV wait through two days of interviews and then wait some more after returning to Cincinnati on Thursday.

And now the wait goes on for the Rebels, who are still in the market for a basketball coach.

Their options could include Arkansas-Little Rock’s Chris Beard, Saint Mary’s Randy Bennett, South Carolina’s Frank Martin and New Mexico State’s Marvin Menzies as well as Steve Lavin, formerly the coach at UCLA and St. John’s.

Cronin turned down UNLV’s job offer on Friday, forcing Rebels officials to delay what they hoped would be a joyous announcement and get right back to focusing on who might finally take over their once nationally relevant program.
