Broken records, history made and a “blackout” under the Saturday night lights

With 17,811 onlookers and perfect 85 degree weather, the UNLV Rebels grabbed a 45-20 victory in a commanding fashion over Fresno State at the Homecoming game on Oct. 1 at the Sam Boyd Stadium.

The game started with a bit of a different lineup as starting quarterback Johnny Stanton sat out due to an injury. His replacement came in the form of redshirt freshman Dalton Sneed.

With a scoreless first quarter, the first UNLV points came in the second quarter when sophomore tailback Lexington Thomas completed a one-yard touchdown, marking his team leading seventh touchdown and the 10th of his career.
