The U.S. international found the net in his first Bundesliga game after leaving the second division for Hamburg following a 17-goal season with Berlin.
U.S. international Bobby Wood wasted no time getting on the score sheet in his Bundesliga debut with Hamburg.
The 23-year-old forward scored at the half-hour mark, playing a long ball with an excellent first touch and firing from about 18 yards out to give Hamburg an early lead over Ingolstadt on Saturday.
Wood joined Hamburg from second-division side Union Hamburg in May. He scored 17 goals in 30 matches in 2015-16, setting a record for goals scored by an American in Germany.
