M'Gladbach and U.S. midfielder Fabian Johnson left his side's Europa League match against Schalke after just 16 minutes due to injury.

U.S. international Fabian Johnson has extended his contract with Borussia Moenchengladbach by two years to 2020.

Johnson, who is nearing a comeback after nine matches out with a thigh injury, has 10 goals and set up 12 more in 69 Bundesliga games for Gladbach since joining from league rivals Hoffenheim in 2014.

"It's an amazing feeling to continue being part of this fantastic club," Johnson said in a statement.
