U.S. to play Mexico in September friendly in N.J.

The United States and Mexico will meet in a friendly at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., just two months after El Tri defeated the Americans in the 2019 Gold Cup final, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced on Monday.

The match, set for Sept. 6, will mark the 70th time the two sides have met, with Mexico having a 35-19-15 record against the U.S. The U.S. has had improved success since the turn of the century, going 14-7-6 against their rivals.
