HOUSTON -- Even if the U.S. men's national team is more excited by than wary of the prospect of facing Argentina on Tuesday in the Copa America Centenario semifinals, the tournament hosts will still be attempting the near-impossible when the whistle blows.
Beating the Albiceleste in the biggest home game the U.S. has had since the second round of the 1994 World Cup would be an upset, and a significant one.
It's still possible, though -- even if Argentina comes into the contest at NRG Stadium as FIFA's top-ranked team, and even they boast, in the incomparable Lionel Messi, the planet's best player.
