Thomas Partey: Ghana waiting on Arsenal over midfielder's availability for Afcon qualifiers

Ghana are refusing to rule Arsenal midfielder Thomas Teye Partey out of their upcoming 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying assignments despite reports of the player having pulled out of the games against Sudan.

The midfielder sustained a thigh injury while in Premier League action for Arsenal against Aston Villa on Sunday, leading to his substitution at half-time.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta failed to rule out the 27-year-old from Ghana's games after the final whistle, opting to wait until the player undergoes a medical scan to ascertain the nature of the injury.
