This backheel assist shows why Gedion Zelalem is an exciting prospect

When Gedion Zelalem committed to the U.S. Soccer program, cheers from every corner of the American soccer community rained down. While his predicted immediate rise to United States men's national team stardom hasn't gone as planned, he's still a very young and very talented player.

His assist for Rangers FC today shows exactly why everyone is still drooling over his massive potential. His deft little backheel touch to send in Rangers' striker Martyn Waghorn for an eventual goal may not have been the most difficult of passes to make, but it shows his creativity and willingness to try things.
