Brisbane Roar fans have reacted angrily after a light-hearted tribute to retiring stalwart Matt McKay was torn down by Suncorp Stadium officials.
The supporters hoisted a Roar jersey on to a statue of rugby legend Wally Lewis prior to their final match of the season against Adelaide United, but were left frustrated when it was removed by stadium management.
Members of the Roar faithful took to social media after the decision was made by the stadium, claiming it was poor form by officials, especially after they didn't return the jersey.
The Roar lost McKay's final A-League game 5-3 to the Reds - with the final strike against giving them the unwanted record of conceding the most goals (71) in a regular season.
