Red Bulls' Matt Miazga named U.S. Young Male Player of the Year

New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga was named Young Male Player of the Year by U.S. Soccer on Friday.

Miazga, 20, secured a spot in the Red Bulls' first team this season, helping New York win the MLS Supporters' Shield.

He finished fourth in Major League Soccer's voting for Defender of the Year.

Miazga also starred on international duty for the United States under-20 side, starting 11 games, including all four at the Under-20 World Cup.

He then played in all of the Under-23 squad's Olympic qualifiers, and earned his first cap with the senior team in November in a World Cup qualifier against St.
