Rise and Shine were enjoying a six-match unbeaten run in the league having drawn 0-0 with Cape Town City away in their previous encounter.
On the other hand, Lidoda Duvha were undefeated in their last three league matches having edged out Chippa United 3-2 at home in their last game.
Leopards were hoping to continue their dominance over Polokwane having defeated their Limpopo rivals 1-0 at home in the first round clash earlier this season.
