American defensive midfielder and former D.C. United player Perry Kitchen has returned to MLS after signing with the L.A. Galaxy.
Kitchen joins the Galaxy on a free transfer from Danish Superliga side Randers. L.A. sent D.C. $200,000 in Targeted and $100,000 in General Allocation Money in order to acquire Kitchen’s MLS rights.
Kitchen turns 26 at the end of February and joins a rebuilding L.A. side, coached by Zigi Schmidt, that finished last in MLS during the 2017 season.
Although Kitchen left MLS as a free agent, D.C. retained his rights because the team offered him a new contract (that he ultimately rejected).
