Newcastle's DeAndre Yedlin out 1-2 weeks with thigh injury

Newcastle and United States international defender DeAndre Yedlin is set to miss the next 1-2 weeks with a thigh injury, according to manager Rafa Benitez.

The injury endangers Yedlin's chances of playing in two critical World Cup qualifiers at the end of the month against Honduras and Panama.

Benitez told England-based outlet Chronicle Live that Yedlin first sustained the injury on Feb. 28 in Newcastle's 2-1 win over Brighton, and felt the injury again in the 3-1 victory over Huddersfield four days later, despite only coming on in the 81st minute as a substitute.

"[Yedlin] was complaining, and you could see that maybe it would be one week or two weeks," Benitez told Chronicle Live about the defender's stint against Huddersfield.
