Matildas coach Ante Milicic is standing by his side's style of play after a shock 2-1 loss Italy in their Women's World Cup opener.
After taking the lead via captain Sam Kerr, Australia put in a poor second-half performance which saw them concede a goal in the final minute of injury-time.
The Matildas appear to be taking some time to adapt to Milicic's style of play following the sacking of Alen Stajcic earlier this year and have conceded 10 goals in their past three games.
