Fiorentina head into the break with a 1-0 advantage courtesy of Pulgar's well-struck penalty in the 14th minute. AC Milan started the game on top but Fiorentina soon found their feet and went close early on when Chiesa saw his half-volleyed effort blocked by Dragowski. The visitors got their goal shortly after when Bennacer conceded a penalty after tripping over Chiesa inside the box and Pulgar drilled the resulting spot-kick into the bottom right-hand corner. Montella's side then had the ball in the net again when Castrovilli drilled it home, but the linesman had his flag raised for an offside earlier in the move.
