The feel-good story of the Americans abroad season so far took a turn for the worse this week. Sunderland’s Lynden Gooch burst onto the scene in the Premier League to begin the 2015-16 season, but an injury will stall his unexpected run with the Black Cats.
Gooch was stretchered off the field on Monday during a U-23 match. Sunderland Manager David Moyes delivered the bad news in his pre-match press conference on Friday that the American would be out of action for around two to three months with ankle ligament damage.
The 20-year-old midfielder has earned nine Premier League appearances so far this season, earning massive praise from Moyes along the way.
