Former United States international Landon Donovan has been named coach of United Soccer League side San Diego Loyal.
Donovan is also a vice president in charge of soccer operations at the second-tier franchise -- which will take to the pitch for the first time in 2020 -- and is part of the team's ownership group.
"I am truly honored to be named the first Manager in San Diego Loyal history," Donovan said in a team release. "This is the right place, at the right time, with the right people for me to begin my managerial career.
