Asante Kotoko coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor claims that the absence of an organised youth football system is affecting the development of the sport in Ghana.
The former Black Star says local coaches struggle to rejuvenate their squad because they can’t find a good pool of young talent.
Ghana, alongside Nigeria, dominated the U16, U17 and U20 continental and Fifa competitions in the 1990s and early 2000s, but that is no longer the case.
“Coaches are struggling because we don’t have a youth system at all. The game is getting poorer,” Akonnor told 3FM.
