There are probably two notes to take into this game: first, Casey Short has been added to the roster, once again in an attempt to help the rest of a very exhausted USWNT roster with their load management. And second, this is the last game for the United States women with Jill Ellis as head coach.
The results of this game won’t matter to Ellis’ coaching career, barring a 7-0 blowout by South Korea. With the team’s last win over Korea, she already became the winningest coach in program history, passing Tony DiCicco with 106 wins.
