Jason Kreis names 20-man U-23 Olympic qualifying roster

We know the 20 men who will be tasked with trying to get the U-23s back to the Olympics. Today, U.S. Soccer released the roster for the Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship, and 20 players selected by Jason Kreis will compete in that competition. The top 2 teams in the tournament will earn a spot in the Olympics, set to take place this summer.

The 20-man roster for the U-23s:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Matt Freese (Philadelphia Union), JT Marcinkowski (San Jose Earthquakes), David Ochoa (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (6): Julian Araujo (LA Galaxy), Justen Glad (Real Salt Lake), Aaron Herrera (Real Salt Lake), Henry Kessler (New England Revolution), Mauricio Pineda (Chicago Fire), Sam Vines (Colorado Rapids)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Johnny Cardoso (Internacional), Hassani Dotson (Minnesota United FC), Ulysses Llanez (Heerenveen), Djordje Mihailovic (CF Montreal), Andrés Perea (Orlando City SC), Sebastian Saucedo (UNAM Pumas), Jackson Yueill (San Jose Earthquakes)

FORWARDS (4): Jesús Ferreira (FC Dallas), Jonathan Lewis (Colorado Rapids), Benji Michel (Orlando City), Sebastian Soto (Norwich City)

The roster features 11 players with USMNT experience and 10 who have appeared at a FIFA Youth World Cup, and that experience will be crucial for an abbreviated tournament that could have as many as 5 games in 12 days.
