NEW YORK -- Whatever your opinion of Jurgen Klinsmann's five-plus years at the national team helm, one thing the ex-U.S. coach can't be accused of is not giving opportunities to young players.
Klinsmann took John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin and Julian Green to the World Cup in 2014 over veterans like Clarence Goodson, Brad Evans and Landon Donovan, and all three ended up making an impact off the bench in Brazil. In the German's final 12 months on the job, he handed blue-chip former youth national team standouts such as Ethan Horvath, Matt Miazga and Christian Pulisic their senior debuts.
