CONMEBOL levels above CONCACAF at Copa America Centenario

LOS ANGELES -- A major takeaway from this summer's Copa America Centenario is that CONMEBOL has put its prominence on display in comparison to the CONCACAF nations taking part. Argentina, Chile and Colombia have clearly demonstrated the gap that exists between them and the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica among others.

It's a question of quality, of players like Lionel Messi, Arturo Vidal and James Rodriguez. And just when we thought the gap between the two confederations was narrowing, the tournament put everyone in their place, leaving definitive proof of each hemisphere's status in the football world.
