Summer seems a long time ago all of a sudden.
In June, the USA looked to be back on track under Jurgen Klinsmann, as a World Cup cycle characterized by missed benchmarks finally hit one, with the team reaching the semifinals of the Copa America Centenario.
That month also ended with the Seattle Sounders' Sigi Schmid marking his 500th MLS game as a head coach. And moving into July we were reading about the series of clashes between Schmid and Bruce Arena, as the two most successful coaches in the relatively short history of the league prepared to play each other three times that month.
