Bobby Wood breaks American scoring record in Germany

The U.S. national team striker continued his red-hot form in the German second division on Friday.

U.S. national team forward Bobby Wood broke the record for goals scored by an American in Germany's top two divisions with a brace on Friday.

Wood scored in the seventh minute and then the 13th minute for Union Berlin against Paderborn, his 15th and 16th goals of the season in the 2.Bundesliga.

The 23-year-old striker broke the record of 14 previously held by Conor Casey, who set the mark with Karlsruher SC in the 2.Bundesliga during the 2003-04 season.

Wood's breakout campaign comes in his first season with Union Berlin, and has seen him linked with a move to several top-flight clubs in Germany.
