U.S. men's national team manager Gregg Berhalter said he agrees with former U.S. boss Jurgen Klinsmann about finding the most difficult friendly opponents possible, but contends that the CONCACAF Nations League still has value for his side.
In an earlier interview with ESPN, Klinsmann said he considers the CONCACAF Nations League to be "a waste of time" and that it would be better spent lining up higher caliber opponents in friendlies. This, despite the fact that since the start of 2018 the U.S. has played nine out of the possible 10 CONMEBOL opponents, as well as France, Italy and England.
