The Werder Bremen striker is still struggling to recover from a hip injury, and may not be ready to begin the Bundesliga campaign in August.
Werder Bremen has said that U.S. national team forward Aron Johannsson could miss the beginning of the 2016-17 Bundesliga season with recurring hip and groin problems.
Johannsson, 25, has not played since Sept. 22. He made only six league appearances and scored two goals with Werder Bremen in the 2015-16 campaign before having surgery in October. Since then, the striker has experienced nerve problems and a series of frustrating setbacks look set to continue.
