Carli Lloyd has become the sixth U.S. national team star to score 100 international goals, hitting the milestone in a friendly against Mexico on Sunday.
The 35-year-old scored in the 34th minute at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, giving the U.S. a 3-2 lead in her 252nd cap.
That strike saw Lloyd follow in the footsteps of fellow U.S. goal-scoring centurions Tiffeny Milbrett, Michelle Akers, Kristine Lilly, Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach. Wambach holds the international record with 184 goals.
It was the second goal in as many games for Lloyd, who in 2018 has already matched her scoring output from all of 2017, when she netted just twice during an injury-plagued year.
