After a massive opening victory over Costa Rica in Group A, the United States has a very good chance at clinching a berth in the all-or-nothing semifinal round of Concacaf Olympic qualifying today. Facing off against the weakest group opponent, the Dominican Republic, Jason Kreis’ side needs three points in their match and for Mexico to not let Costa Rica pick up three points of their own. If those two very realistic outcomes happen, the U.S. won’t have to worry too much about their final group match against El Tri on Wednesday.
The Dominican Republic conceded four goals to Mexico in their opener, including a hat trick to Club America’s Sebastian Cordova.
