Yesterday, U.S. Soccer announced the list of candidates for the 2018 Male Player of the Year Award. Midfielders Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, and Wil Trapp, defender Matt Miazga, and goalkeeper Zack Steffen are the players that will vie for the award. Each of the players are first-time nominees. The voting bloc will consist of national team coaches, any USMNT player that earned a cap in 2018, U.S. Soccer Board of Directors, the U.S. Soccer Athletes’ Council, MLS and USL head coaches, select media representatives and former players and administrators.
Tyler Adams tied for the most appearances in 2018 (with Wil Trapp), adding 8 caps to his resume.
