Former player Kate Markgraf will be the first general manager of the U.S. women's national soccer team, a source with knowledge of the process confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.
Yahoo earlier reported Markgraf's hiring. The move is expected to be announced Monday.
Markgraf won a World Cup as a member of the USWNT in 1999 as well as two Olympic gold medals and has 201 caps with the program.
As the first GM, she will have to find a replacement for coach Jill Ellis, who has stepped down after leading the national team to consecutive World Cup titles.
