Scotland's pain is Socceroos gain in latest world rankings

Despite not playing a game in the recent international break, the Socceroos have risen one place in the latest FIFA world rankings to 41st.

The surprise rise comes after Scotland, who were above Australia, dropped four places having lost 3-0 to Kazakhstan in their first EURO qualifier before beating San Marino 2-0.

With the Olyroos in action during the international window and Socceroos coach Graham Arnold overseeing them, the green and gold were kept on ice in March.

Australia's next match is now expected to be played away in June against Korea Republic before World Cup qualifying kicks off later in the year.
