Nepal slipped to the second spot on the SAFF Championship 2021 table after they were defeated 1-0 by India in their third match of the tournament. India's skipper Sunil Chhetri scored the only goal of the match.
They had stunned Sri Lanka 3-2 in their second match. Goals from Suman Lama, Anjan Bista, and Ayush Ghalan ensured that the Gorkhalis prevailed over the Lankan Lions.
They had also defeated Maldives 1-0 in their opener courtesy of a late goal from Manish Dangi. Abdullah Almutairi's men were struggling possession throughout the match but an opportunistic strike from Dangi helped Nepal start on a winning note.
