Former U.S. men's national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel says that Gio Reyna's rise with Borussia Dortmund has been even faster than expected.
The young attacker, son of former USMNT star Claudio Reyna and former U.S. women's national team midfielder Danielle Egan, joined Borussia Dortmund in 2019 after originally breaking through with New York City FC's academy.
With the elder Reyna serving as the club's sporting director, the now-17-year-old midfielder earned attention from Europe due to his performances with the club's youth teams as well as the U.S. U-17 side.
Reyna moved right into Dortmund's youth setup, but his rapid rise continued this January when he made his Bundesliga debut.
