Manchester City ease into the next round of the EFL Cup with a 3-0 victory over Preston at Deepdale, with all three goals coming in the first half, through Sterling, Jesus and a Ledson own goal. The visitors dominated the second period, with Jesus going close on a couple of occassions and Foden struck the crossbar, but they were unable to extend their lead. Preston struggled to keep the ball and were forced to sit deep, however, Harrop did go close when he struck the post, but that's as close as they came.
