Omar Gonzalez becomes third American to win CONCACAF Champions League

While Major League Soccer is still searching for their first ever CONCACAF Champions League title, a player who made his name in the American top flight has won one of his own. Former LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez helped Pachuca win the CCL on Wednesday night.

The United States international played 90 minutes in the 1-0 clean sheet victory in leg two against Tigres. In doing so, he’s joined Jose Torres and Ventura Alvarado as the only two Americans to win CONCACAF’s regional club championship.

This isn’t the first trophy the Maryland native has won in his career.
