Werder Bremen have had an extremely poor beginning to the 2016-17 season. After narrowly avoiding relegation this season, they appear to be headed for another battle this season. They’ve already fired their manager and are on the hunt for a new one.
One interesting link for USMNT fans is that of Andreas Herzog. Jurgen Klinsmann’s assistant with the senior national team and the U-23 head coach spent two different stints at the Bundesliga club when he was a player, totaling 236 appearances and 58 goals.
Herzog told the German media that he’d be interested in the job as Bremen will always hold a special place in his heart, but isn’t nominating himself outright just yet.
