U.S. national team regular Bobby Wood has been given a three-match suspension after elbowing Cologne's Dominique Heintz in a match on Sunday. He was also fined by his club.
The 23-year old Hamburg striker was sent off in the second half of a 3-0 loss. Here's a video of the play that resulted in the red card and subsequent suspension:
Hamburg manager Markus Gisdol claimed that Wood's elbowing of an opponent is "inexcusable."
"Such a red card is inexcusable. I am not interested if something happened before that.
