Guatemala have hired Walter Claveri as their new manager. The 58-year-old will begin work with the Chapines immediately.
Guatemala have been in search of a manager ever since Ivan Sopegno resigned last month. The team struggled to get past Bermuda and Antigua and Barbuda in the second and third rounds of World Cup qualifying, then started the fourth round with a loss to Trinidad and Tobago before beating Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Guatemala were also embarrassed at the Gold Cup last summer, managing just one point and finishing last in their group.
Claveri comes to the national team from Suchitepequez, where he helped establish the club as a top half team in Guatemala.
