Today, Concacaf announced that the men’s OIympic qualifying tournament, postponed last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, has been rescheduled for March 18-30 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Guadalajara was the original site for Olympic qualifying last year before the pandemic forced its postponement, along with the Olympics.
The field of 8 U-23 teams, including the United States, were drawn into two groups of 4 back in January 2020. Concacaf confirmed that those groups would remain intact for this rescheduled edition of the tournament. The groups for this Olympic qualifying tournament:
Group A: Mexico, United States, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic
Group B: Honduras, Canada, El Salvador, Haiti
The top two finishers in each group will move to the semifinals, with the two semifinal winners receiving Concacaf’s two spots at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament at the Summer Games in Tokyo.
