A worker died after being struck by a car while crossing the street outside Electric Boat in Groton last week, police said.
Ralph L. Lopardo, 60, of Waterford was in the crosswalk outside the south gate, heading east across Eastern Point Road, or Route 349, shortly before 10:10 p.m. April 21 when he was struck, they said. The driver of the southbound 2012 Ford Focus, Carrie Malarkey, 37, stopped after the collision.
Groton city officers and detectives are working with the state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad on the investigation, police said. Town of Groton police, Waterford police and the New London State’s Attorney’s office also helped with the investigation, which continues.
