A woman and two pets died, and two people were injured, in a house fire in Chester Sunday, fire officials said.

Joan Carini, 76, was found in the house at 27 Ridge Road, they said. She was taken to Middlesex Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The pets that died were a dog and a cat.

The fire was reported about 9:30 a.m. Firefighters learned that people were trapped in the house, although one jumped to safety, said Sgt. Paul Makuc from the state police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit. The team of fire investigators were called to help find the cause of the fire.
