With UConn move-in underway, the state of Connecticut still hasn’t ruled on Mansfield’s request to limit gathering sizes during coronavirus pandemic

In an effort to curb coronavirus spread, the town of Mansfield hoped to enact tighter restrictions on gatherings before students returned to UConn’s campus — but by Friday, the university’s first move-in day, the state of Connecticut still hadn’t ruled on the town’s proposal.

“Students are moving back today and we aren’t able to limit gathering size further than the governor’s executive order,” said Mansfield Deputy Mayor Ben Shaiken. “Students are coming back this weekend and I’m concerned about what happens this weekend.”
