Anyone heading out today to the Rocky Neck, Scantic River/Powder Hollow, Millers Pond or Bigelow Hollow state parks should make new plans: They’ve already reached capacity.
With blazing sunshine and temperatures projected to reach well into the upper 90s today, traffic is heading to Connecticut beaches and parks.
That would mean huge crowds even in normal times. But the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the state to sharply reduce capacity, so many park and beaches are likely to close to late arrivals.
By 10 a.m., the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced that four had already shut down their parking lots because they were full: Millers Pond State Park in Haddam, Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union, Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme and the Powder Hollow section of the Scantic River State Park in Enfield.
