The agency warned homeowners to secure outdoor items, and told drivers to have a good grip on their steering wheels during the afternoon commute. Power outages are possible.
“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the weather service said. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”
In addition to being windy, Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high in the mid-70s in the Hartford area. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, and the low will drop to the upper 40s. Any precipitation won’t likely help relieve drought conditions: Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected in most places.
